Animation settings
ÉLAN's motion levels, the product page transition, video playback, and how the theme respects reduced-motion preferences.
Theme version 1.0.0Updated
ÉLAN’s motion is quiet by design: short reveals as sections enter, and one image transition when a product opens. It never delays a customer from shopping.
Motion
Theme settings → Motion → Motion:
| Option | What customers see |
|---|---|
| Off | No reveal animations. Interface feedback, such as a drawer opening, is immediate. |
| Refined | Short, quiet reveals as sections enter the screen. The default in every preset. |
| Expressive | Longer image reveals and stronger transitions. |
Interface movements such as drawers, dialogs and the selection mark stay short at every level.
Animate opening a product
Theme settings → Motion → Animate opening a product: when a customer opens a product, its image grows from the card into the product page. It works in browsers that support page transitions; other browsers open the page normally. It’s off automatically when Motion is Off.
Reduced motion
Customers can ask their device to reduce motion (for example Reduce motion on iPhone and Mac, or Show animations off on Windows). ÉLAN always respects it, whatever the Motion setting says:
- no reveal animations or page transitions
- videos don’t play automatically; customers can still press play
Shopify’s editor preview follows your own device’s setting. If animations don’t appear while you edit, check your device’s accessibility settings.
Video
The Opening title section can play a video instead of an image. It’s always muted and looped, with a visible pause button.
- Play video automatically starts the video when the page loads. Turn it off to show the first frame and let customers press play.
- The video never plays automatically when Motion is Off or when the customer prefers reduced motion.
