Add ÉLAN to your store
- Open ÉLAN’s page in the Shopify Theme Store.
- Choose the preset closest to your store: Élan, Screening or Cyanotype. See Working with presets to compare them.
- Choose Try theme to preview it for free in your store, or Add theme after you buy it. You may need to log in to your store first.
- ÉLAN appears in your theme library in Online Store → Themes. It doesn’t replace your live theme.
Your current theme keeps running until you publish ÉLAN.
Preview before you publish
- In Online Store → Themes, choose Customize on ÉLAN to open it in the theme editor.
- Choose ⋯ → Preview to see the theme in a separate tab with your products. Share the preview link with your team if you like.
- Customers don’t see a theme that isn’t published.
Publish
When you’re ready, choose ⋯ → Publish on ÉLAN in Online Store → Themes, or Publish in the theme editor. Your previous theme stays in the library, so you can publish it again at any time.
What transfers from the demo, and what doesn’t
When you add ÉLAN, you get the preset’s:
- layout: the home page sections and the product, collection, header and footer arrangements
- fonts, color schemes and theme settings
- sample headings and text, which you should replace with your own
You don’t get the demo store’s photography, products, collections, menus or policies. Sections that pick products or images show neutral placeholders until you choose your own. This is by design: demo photography belongs to the demo, and the theme never adds products or claims to your store.
Duplicate before big changes
Before any large change, make a copy: in Online Store → Themes, choose ⋯ → Duplicate on the theme. If something goes wrong, publish the copy.
Always duplicate before editing theme code. Code edits aren’t carried over when you update the theme, and theme support doesn’t cover them.
Check your version
The theme version is shown under the theme name in Online Store → Themes. These guides describe version 1.0.0. Include the version when you contact support.
