Working with presets

What Élan, Screening and Cyanotype each set, how to choose, and how to switch or recreate a preset later.

On this page

A preset is a starting point: a set of fonts, color schemes, theme settings, a home page, and product, collection, header and footer layouts. All three presets use the same sections and settings, so anything one preset does, the others can do too.

Choosing a preset

Choose by your photography rather than your industry:

  • Mostly campaign or lifestyle images, light and warm: Élan.
  • Moody campaign images, dark backgrounds: Screening.
  • Packshots on plain backgrounds, a clean and clinical look: Cyanotype.

Every preset works for every kind of store; these are only starting points.

Switch to another preset

Presets are chosen when you add the theme. To start from another preset later:

  1. Open ÉLAN’s page in the Theme Store again and choose the other preset.
  2. Choose Add theme (or Try theme). This adds a new copy to your theme library. Your current theme is unchanged.
  3. Customize the new copy, then publish it when it’s ready.

The new copy starts from the preset’s layout, so changes you made to your old copy don’t carry over.

Recreate a preset by hand

Inside one theme you can move toward any preset without starting again:

  • Change the fonts and color schemes in Theme settings → Typography and Theme settings → Colors.
  • Change Mark style, Button corners, Image ratio and Default collection layout in Theme settings.
  • In the Header section, change Logo position, Sticky header and Transparent over the home page opening.
  • Add or rearrange the home page sections listed in the table above.

Changing Theme settings never deletes your content.
